Micronutrients
fertilizer is is in the form of salts and metallic oxide which is
only slightly soluble. The mode of action is through the low pH of
peat gradually dissolving the oxide, making it available to the
palms.
Copper
is required as a catalyst for the formation of chlorophyll .
Copper deficiency was identified as the cause of ¡°mid crown
chlorosis ¡±, which results in reduced vegetative growth and
very small fruit bunch yields. Copper is adsorbed by the humic and
fulvic acids present in organic matter .Therefore , Copper is the
most widely deficient micronutrient in deep acid peat soils.
Zinc
also acts as a catalyst for chlorophyll formation .Zinc
deficiency is often related to a complex nutritional disorder called
¡°peat yellow ¡± .

Boron
acts as a booster for vegetative growth , especially
for terminal growth such as formation of flowers ,roots,
shoots and young
fronds . Boron is relatively immobile and must be used in
combination with other macronutrients . The supply of Boron in
most peat soils is insufficient to meet the requirements of
vigorously growing oil palms ,resulting in hooked leaves
and in severe cases , crinkled leaves and shortened fronds
